I love fantasy books and have been catching with a lot of old titles I love. None of the book series I’ve been retiring are bad (in fact I love them) but now that I’m almost finished with this batch I’m looking to pick up the first book in a series that might be a little less known. I love everything with magic and powers and I’m a huge sucker for stories with mentors, politics, knights (or an equivalent), good siblings, secret organizations, and surprise relatives to name a few (obviously don’t tell me which of these is in the book you’re recommending cuz spoilers)

TLDR: I want to read a fantasy book that’s the first in a series or a stand alone thanks 🙂

Two series by Daniel Abraham that I’ve revisited lately- The Long Price Quartet and The Dagger and Coin. Both fit the bill for mentors, politics, secret organizations and the like- The Long Price has a little more fantasy element than Dagger and Coin, I’d say.

One that’s *really* fantasy heavy in a way that I’ve not seen before is The Daevabad Trilogy by S. A. Chakraborty. It has a really rich backstory and lots of fantasy elements.

This appears a lot in this subreddit but Dungeon Crawler Carl is a great read. I started it due to the recommendations and am passing it on.
