As title says, I’ve really struggled with reading since college and I miss devouring a book immensely. I also feel like I burned out quickly due to the accelerated reading program – I tested at college reading level in 3rd grade and had to read really heavy books to accrue enough points to get a good grade. Not bragging just reading all the classics so young really left an impression though I did love some like All Quiet on the Western Front, Great Gatsby, A Farewell to Arms, and similar. Also anything Plath (classic?) or similar early feminist writers like Joan Didion. Even neo-classics like One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and beat writers like Bukowski, William S. Burroughs, etc., were exciting (though I think being a woman in today’s day and age has really made me re-evaluate those because as a teen I was not mature enough). I got really sucked into murder mystery series and true crime in high school that were probably way too mature for me. Since then I really love essay collections, non-fiction especially around sociology and anthropology (like queer stories, mental health, social justice, global rights issues, similar), and fast read non-fiction like Girl on the Train or really anything by Gillian Flynn. My only absolute no is romance novels.

    Any suggestions? Thank you!!
