I’ve just finished Lessons in Chemistry and I really enjoyed how the main female character was written. I like themes of empowerment and challenging the status quo, accurate depictions of historic culture etc. I love the film Hidden Figures so fiction stories based in truth would be even better!
Open to all genres, not necessarily true historic fiction – I love a bit of fantasy too.

Has multiple characters but the main one is a woman.
I really liked the Memoirs of Cleopatra by Margaret George. The Clan of the Cave Bear series is really good. The first book does have some SA in it. If you do read it and like it Id suggest stopping after Plains of Passage.
