I’ve read the book “The old man & the sea” and wanted to read something similar but couldn’t quite find something with a story this nice. Does anyone know a book along those lines?
I loved that book too, and it was my first of many to be audiobooks. Given i liked the storytelling and the writing style, i found that other books by Ernest Hemingway are amazing too, don’t remember the name but about a couple going to switzerland during war. Also Charles Bukowski became something i could not get enough of, and Hunter S Thompson.

you might like cry, the beloved country. it’s similarly “simple” and a fairly straightforward tale, but there is so much to it. and the language sort of follows the lyrical simplicity of African oral tradition.
