Suggest me a book that is found family, but also has an intense plot…so to speak.
I finished reading The very secret society of irregular witches which is ‘found family’ ‘grumpy/sunshine’, and ‘found family’ is the first trope I’ve actually enjoyed immensely. Only problem is I want more of a intense plot.
**The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune**
A case worker dealing with magical beings ends up at an unusual orphanage with a unique set of adoptees that feel like family. There he must unravel a complex mystery, offering an intense plot through a found-family trope.
**Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo**
A band of misfits carry out a heist in this fantasy novel, offering a strong found-family theme paired with high stakes and intense plot.
**The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers**
This character-driven sci-fi story follows a crew as they travel through space, giving you the found-family dynamic you love with lots of plot twists.

If you like fantasy and haven’t already read them, that’s a big part of the a court of thorns and roses series!

I haven’t read that but, from your description, the tone sounds similar to *Cerulean Sea* mentioned. *The Whispering Door* is a bit darker found family book by Klune.
*Sweet Bean Paste* – Sukegawa is found family but has a serious historical plot element and a less feel good wrap up.
I’ve seen the friends in *The Outsiders* – Hinton described as found family. If you didn’t read it in middle or high school, the plot is pretty intense.
