I’ve always immensely enjoyed plots that rediscover the past, but only recently have I really put a finger on the exact element I love (since the ‘archeology’ part isusually a subplot or a device to advance the main plot)

Some books that come to mind that which includes this theme:The Liveship traders trilogy, the Broken Earth trilogy, Elantris, Stormlight archives

Or if you’ve seen Miyazaki‘s Laputa: Castle in the Sky- I’ve always hoped there was more elaboration on the history and anthropology of Laputa (but part of the charm is the mystery as well)

The ones listed above are all fantasy, but I’m also open to other genres as well.

Hoping for some suggestions! Thanks in advance.

    1. The Corean Chronicles by L.E. Modesitt, Jr. A farm boy grows up in a world with reminders of a lost golden age everywhere. But is it that lost after all?

    2. Nightfall by Isaac Asimov and Robert Silverberg (based on a short story by Asimov)

Who Fears Death by Nnedi Okorafor (more of a subplot)
