So i’m looking for some books to read this summer and it’s been a while since i’ve read any in german. I want to improve my reading speed/fluency as well as vocabulary. So basically my request is for books in german that are engaging and fun that can help me improve my german. I’m open to any genre except horror and i’m not a big fan of romance. I was thinking about reading Tintenhertz or Winnetou, would these be good choices?
For context i speak german fluently (although my vocabulary, particularly formal language, is not top tier) as my parents are both german although i was born and raised in the US. I did get a C1 on the DSD2 but i know i could be better…
Thanks!

Tintenherz is YA so it’s is a solid choice for language improver. Some new vocab without being overwhelming. Winnetou is kinda old fashioned but if you’re into Westerns, a good choice
Die Welle – also YAish but a heavy subject matter (fascism)
Sieben Jahre in Tibet
Die 13 1/2 Leben des Käpt’n Blaubär or Rumo. Both are great non-Tolkien fantasy books.
