Looking for a cottage core book where the protagonist works on or owns a farm. Or at least lives in a small farming village. I want to get lost in a world of simpler times, hard honest work, in the beautiful countryside. Not interested in fantasy.

A lot of cottage core recommendations I see are of wealthy aristocrats who have land and happen to live in an estate in the country. I’d love something actually focused on the people who are the ones doing the work on the farm.

For example, a scene I was absolutely transfixed by was Levin in Anna Karenina working hard in the fields with the scythe, just gorgeous. Granted he was the land owner, but he at least partook in and appreciated the work.

    1. The *Little House* series – Ingalls Wilder

It’s appropriate for children but covers several decades of her life, in the times.
