It’s been a while since I read recent books that came out this decade or less, so been picking up a lot of fictions that out few years and noticed this trend.
This year I read 5 historical fictions and 2 fantasy books (ex. Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi,
The Sympathizer by Viet Thanh Nguyen, The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by S. A. Chakraborty)
and all of them have this, most mentioned not just some epic or popular series like LOTR or Star Wars, but also a lot of history (particularly in-depth and not pop mainstream) books I saw that were made up most of the inspirations and research.
As someone who’s a huge history nerd and loved to see different fantasy/sci-fi approaches, it’s kinda refreshing. Idk if this is a common thing to do nowadays or I’m missing out a lot.
