Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing well, I am seeking a Regency-era novel, where homophobia and the realization that you are gay play a major part in the story, usually the historical novels I have read involve a character who was married, courting a woman, etc. Just go, “oh I’m gay, that’s fine” and society and homophobia maybe get mentioned once and it is never touched on, some of the ones I’ve read will have the characters do PDA and no one bats an eye. Now I love cute and fluffy Low—angst romance as much as the next person, but it kind of breaks the immersion for me when the Regency era society seems to be more progressive than modern-day. I am looking for a very, VERY, Slow burn where one or both of the characters realize they are gay, grapple with internalized homophobia for an extended period, deal with external homophobia and then very gradually find one another, while dealing with a great deal of societal homophobia. As much as I love supportive side characters in this instance I am seeking a novel where the odds are truly stacked against our couple and they only have each other.

Thank you for your time and recommendations, I hope you have a lovely day
