Monday afternoon and as of now I’ve finished reading a collection by Larry Niven titled “Playgrounds of the Mind”. This isn’t the first time I’ve read Niven’s stories. I have another collection from him titled “Limits”, an old hard cover edition, that I have read. And some of the stories from that one are included here also.
But in this collection it’s not just the short stories. There are also excerpts from some of his novels, much of them being collaborations with other authors. And also articles and essays that he also wrote.
The writer himself even ads his own commentary here as well. All detailing of how these writings came to be and what not. And also some pretty funny personal stories too!
Niven’s got quite a sense of humor and it can be seen in his stories as well. A little wit can sometimes make a big difference!
We’ve got a little bit of horror going but primarily the stories are sci-fi and fantasy. all of which is very good and very entertaining!
So far this the second Niven book I’ve read so far, along with “Limits”. I have two more waiting in the wings, one a novel (a sequel to “Ringworld”) and a another collection, of which I am currently reading right about now. So pretty much, more wonders are awaiting me!
Soon or later I might be checking out more his work when the time comes! Which may even include “Ringworld” too!
