    Hi,
    I’m 18m and want to get back to reading as I spend way to much of my time on social media.
    In the past I enjoyed books like:
    -Harry Potter (read 2 times in my native language and once in english)
    -Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit
    -The Hunger Games (still have to read the prequel)
    -Warrior cats or warriors
    -A book (series?) about a world similar to LOTR (don’t remember the title) about dwarfs in that world
    -a thriller for teenagers (boy after an accident stuck in a nearly closed hospital slowly gaining abilities back like communicating etc.)

    Most recent I read Mortal engines (the main books only). I enjoyed the first 2, but am currently stuck in the 3rd as I stopped reading it for reasons and couldn’t really get back to it.

    My favourite would be something like LOTR

    I am open to suggestions on what to read and thank you all in advance 😊

    Also sorry for my poor choice of words and grammatical errors, i am still trying to improve my english.

      *Hèl’s crucible* by Dennis McKiernan is a better LOTR. It’s a high fantasy series set in the Mithgar universe (it contains about 20 books total, separated into smaller subseries). You have everything typical for high fantasy: different species, a mission, a big bad guy, magic. It’s easy to read and interesting until the end.

      If you liked the Hunger Games, try other dystopian YA. *Divergent* by Veronica Roth and *Maze Runner* by Wes Ball are the most common recommendations here. My personal favourite in this genre is the *Broken* trilogy by L. A. Weatherly. I also enjoyed the *Arc of Scythe* by Neal Shusterman.

      I also recommend you read the *Inheritance* cycle (aka Eragon) by Christopher Paolini. It’s a high fantasy YA series – so something between HP and LOTR.

      If you’re looking for something similar-ish to HP try *Artemis Fowl* by Eion Colfer or *Bartimaeus* by Jonathan Stoud. Both center around rather you boys in a fantasy world somewhat similar to ours. If you want to get a feeling for Colfer’s writing, try *The wish list*, it’s a standalone.

      Discworld series by Terry Pratchett. Personally, I’d start with {{Guards! Guards! by Terry Pratchett}} or {{Mort by Terry Pratchett}}. It’s a huge series so you could definitely sprinkle it throughout your other reads. If you want a reading order, there’s a couple graphics to help: [this one](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/1c/10/d9/1c10d9e1c5800ead1dd17223125f9ecb.jpg) and [this one](https://preview.redd.it/e7e47mv4p1ob1.jpeg?width=1584&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0a679e04205e65f9973c748f48cfeae972d96f6e).

      For the first graphic, I think of the paths in these very general terms:

      Watch = crime mystery, whodunnit
      Death = coming of age, finding yourself
      Witches = fantasy, fairy tale
      Rincewind = sci-fi

      Another fantasy series is {{Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros}}. (content warning: one or two chapters have fairly graphic sex). The 2nd installment comes out in Nov.

      Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan – world building, great characters, great plot, great English
