When I was in high school, I tested in the bottom 5% for reading speed despite testing high in comprehension. Not much has changed since then. I love audio books and have chewed through a ton of books since I started using them, but I would love to be able to just sit down and actually read something at a reasonable speed.

Most people say the best way to improve reading speed is to do it more, but it’s such a laborious task for me that it’s hard to stick with it for more than a few pages.

In high school I was able to read through *The Things They Carried* pretty quickly (which became my favorite book), so maybe it’s just my choice of books that’s the issue? Are there any books you would recommend for an adult who is trying to get their read speed up to an actual adult level and do you have any tips?

I also bought a cheap kindle and downloaded Calibre so I could use the Bionic Reading font, so if I can get a hold of the epub file for the book (through official sources of course) that might be helpful. But I am open to using any format.

Any advice you can give would be much appreciated.
