To be honest, a lot of sci fi does not have very well written romance. But here are some that I think do a good job of it!
* Trouble and Her Friends by Melissa Scott
* The Mimicking of Known Successes by Malka Older
* The Trade Pact trilogy by Julie E. Czerneda. Starts with A Thousand Words for Stranger. There is a prequel and sequel trilogy, but I’m mostly through the prequel trilogy and there’s no romance in it so far.
* Redsight by Meredith Mooring

Catharine Asaro’s Skolian Empire books are hard SF with romance. I read and loved the first two, *Primary Inversion* and *Catch the Lightning*.
