Hi! I’ve wanted to get back into reading for awhile now but don’t know where to start. These are the books I like reading about. Note that the books don’t have to have everything I listed. One or two is fine.

    – Romance is not the main focus or the romance is shown in a unique unconventional way (straight or lgbtq), and is written well. Im not a romantic person and classic romance just gets grating after awhile.
    – Worlds with a hierarchy/system of power and the ranks in them are explored. I really like the idea of royal dynamics
    – Character depth/Complex Characters, I’m okay with any morals (good or evil). I really love madness/insanity arcs.
    – Action and/or fighting
    – Revolution/anarchist themes
    – Survival stories
    – Underdog stories
    – Main characters that are forced to become leaders
    – Unconventional main characters (I kind of find main characters boring to be honest and get attached to the weird side characters with little screen time. They always end up dying though smh)
    – Redemption Arcs
    – Stories of revenge
    – Talking animals or animals that play a big role, fantasy creatures and the like
    – Horror or unintentional/slight horror
    – A happy ending/good ending. Tragic themes or sad moments are also okay but I need some hurt/comfort lmao
    – Stories that are good escapism from real life
    – Unexpected turns or plotwists

Media I did like that can be used as sort of a reference:
    – The marvel movies, specifically the Thor movies and Captain America: Civil War
    – Hunger Games
    – Warriors, Guardians of Ga’hoole
    – Harry Potter
    – Lord of the flies
If I think of any more I’ll list them.

Just kind of in a bad place mentally and need escapism. Thanks!

Romance but the romance alone is not the focus of the book:

Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe

      The Color Purple

      Their Eyes Were Watching God
