I have a very Outdated Taste, i love the Tarzan Books, The Lord of the Rings, Beowulf and things like that. Then i discovered that i dont have any novels with a female protagonist…or from beyond the 2000’s. It will be better if its not to fantastical, something along the lines of Tomb raider or Black widow.

      * [Running Out of Time](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/227658.Running_Out_of_Time?from_search=true&from_srp=true&qid=lKM6ukD7R7&rank=1), [Double Identity](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/155370.Double_Identity), and [Turnabout](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/296444.Turnabout) are some young adult books featuring a female protagonist that I liked when I was younger.

      * [Halting State and Rule 34](https://www.goodreads.com/series/52276-halting-state) by Charles Stross.
Near future police dramas. There’s augmented reality and ubiquitous 3D printing, but things aren’t that different from reality. It says they are a series, but I read them out of order and personally liked Rule 34 better (about a series of embarrassing household accidents that seem suspiciously like murder).

      >Action pack book with a female protagonist

      * the [Shadowmarch](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/28694.Shadowmarch?from_search=true&from_srp=true&qid=LiYxiHVwPj&rank=1) series by Tad Williams. There’s sections from multiple characters’ points of view, but there’s two female characters among them, the princess Bryony being one of the most major characters.

      * the [Sabriel series](https://www.goodreads.com/series/195520-the-old-kingdom) by Garth Nix has multiple female protagonists. Set in a fantasy world with a unique magic system.

      * The [Snow Queen](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/139986.The_Snow_Queen) series by Joan D. Vinge. Books 1 and 3 have a female protagonist.

      * [Artemis](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/34928122-artemis) by Andy Weir. Recently published, not outdated. But this author’s style reminds me a lot of the much older sci fi author Robert A. Heinlein.

      * [Glory Season](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/834670.Glory_Season) by David Brin. Takes place on a majority female space colony isolated from the rest of humanity.

      * Anything by [Kameron Hurley](https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/4369922.Kameron_Hurley). The overwhelming majority of her writing has a female protagonist, and there’s lots of action. However, all of her books are science fiction, fantasy, or a mix of both.
