I usually don’t like or read horror books.

That said, there are a few I liked, like The Shining and It.

As Halloween approaches, I am now looking to try with a new one.

Here’s a few things, I don’t want it to be King’s book, as I have read a lot of his. Also not from his son(s), I have read a few of those as well.

If possible, from one point of view and with not a lot of characters (I am listening to audiobooks while doing something, and becomes hard to follow).

Also, looking for some ‘smart’ horror books. They usually don’t scare me and I am not looking that much for scares, more something dark and mysterious with great character(s), that brings some chill or something like that, more then scares.

    Thank you.

I have just finished The Fall of the House of Usher (TV show), and I liked it, so maybe something like that (with less characters, or at least less main ones).

    1. Another by Ayatsuji Yukito. It’s more mystery than horror as the two main characters try to figure out why their class is affected by a Final Destination-like curse and how to prevent it.

    2. Horror-Perception936 on

The Threshold universe books by Peter Clines starting with 14. The audio is fantastic (sane narrator for all).
