    Hi All!

Dad bookworm with a baby boy. Can you provide me short reads ( X <185 pgs) in the areas of fantasy, action, or comedy?

A few books I have enjoyed

    James Patterson’s Toyz,
No way to Treat a First Lady by Christopher Buckley,
I liked GoT but I don’t have time to read that length currently. (I get an hour or two of napping baby to read)

I’d pick up Different Seasons by Stephen King if you’re into his books.

It looks like a long book, but it’s really just 4 novellas. Two of them became the movies Shawshank Redemption and Stand By Me, and the other two stories are still pretty decent as well.

Out of Body by Jeffrey Ford. He has written a few other short books. The Twilight Pariah was pretty good too.

The Turtle Boy by Kealan Patrick Burke. It might be a series. I was looking for a quick read.

The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman

They have a Fantastic Fiction section at my local library. I grab the thinner looking books when I’m not in the mood for anything too long.

    3. Dick Francis for short and action eg Reflex, Break In & Bolt, Straight, to the Hilt

Malcolm Pryce: Aberystwyth mon Amour is hilarious if you have any awareness of Wales and Raymond Chandler

Terry Pratchett’s discworld books are mostly though not all short, as are Douglas Adams books.

Susannah Clarke: Piranesi is a fairly short fantasy but probably still over your 185
