    * Any genre, any length apart from Romance and YA,
    * Good prose and well-done characters are welcome.

This is for gifting so don’t worry about spoiling the story. Last year my my friend mentioned she wanted to read books with unreliable narrator, planning to gift her on her birthday in November.

    1. how sensitive is your friend? the best two books i can think of with an unreliable narrator are “lolita” and “tender is the flesh.” neither of those would i suggest to someone that is of a more sensitive temperament, though.

    2. Lolita is the classic unreliable narrator story. And funny, despite the subject matter!

More recently, maybe Transcription by Kate Atkinson (although knowing the narrator is unreliable is kind of a spoiler). And Magpie Lane by Lucy Atkins.

The Twyford Code by Janice Hallet is a fun and interesting take – very much a cosy crime book.

Piranesi by Susanna Clarke is my favorite. The narrator is lovely but just unaware. The story unfolds almost like a mystery between the author and the reader but the narrator remains largely oblivious. The world is surreal, and it seeped into my dreams every night in the most incredible way. Love that book.

A Nightmare’s Point of View -Nightmares never go away… You may chase them away. You can think you killed them… You may stop believing and forget them, but Nightmares never go away… Nightmares don’t die… They just wait…

Explore what’s on the other side of the shadows… What really is going on when the last remnants of light fade out and you close your eyes to sleep? Nowhere is safe when they find you…
Atheireyn are the ultimate nightmare species. They are nigh unbeatable, indestructible, unyielding, and unkillable…
No matter where, they can move through shadows. They can open doorways to anywhere in the universe and when they are hungry, there is no place that is safe…

The book is about a monstrous alien named Embrance trying to change his species’ deathly eating habits. It is a Sci-fi fantasy adventure with an array of emotions, colorful characters, and perspectives. It isn’t a light read. This is a healthy-size Sci-fi dark fantasy and a plus-size adventure.
