Just some background info I don’t like the “happy” endings. (If its happy thats fine; just please have a great story.) I like something that disturbs me, makes me have to think, something that’s unique, and most of all isn’t afraid to break boundaries. At the end I want to be thinking; “Wow, I wish I could read that all over from the beginning again!”.
I’ve been reading the Obsidian Path Trilogy by Micheal R Fletcher, and I really liked the dark theme in the scenes he creates, and the plot twists the book took. (Though I was hoping the main character would suffer more or lose something more impactdul; for character development purposes.)I know he has other books within the same universe and they are tied together just want to see what else there is.
I really liked Berserk as it filled the plot twists requirement, and plenty of dark themes for both the world and main character. (Trying to keep both spoiler free)
[Manga/Anime/Shows I liked]
I know these aren’t “books” but instead considered manga or anime. But I really liked The Promised Neverland, Tokyo Ghoul, Parasyt, Re:Zero, Death Note, Attack on Titan, JJK, if these give any clues as to the type of genre I’m looking for in a book.
I also watched the House of the Dragon, and I liked it a lot for its world building & character design. I already have the game of thrones books on my kindle.
