I really enjoy young adult survival/apocalyptic books like Maze Runner and The Hunger games. I also really enjoyed The Road by Cormac McCarthy, it doesn’t always have to be young adult but I do really enjoy the romance aspect that some of them have.

    1. I really enjoyed World War Z by Max Brooks. Never watched the film, heard it was not good.

    2. CrushedLaCroixCan on

Small Game by Blair Braverman. A group of contestants go on a TV survival show but things start to go awry. One of my favorite reads of the year!

    3. *Moon of the Crusted Snow* and it’s just released sequel, *Moon of the Turning Leaves* by Waubgeshig Rice.

You’ll learn a lot about Indigenous people, too. Great books.

Oryx and Crake, series by Margaret Atwood

      The Stand by Steven King

The Boy on the Bridge by M. R. Carry

The Girl with all the Gifts by M. R. Carry

The Scarlett Plague by Jack London

The Gone series by Michael Grant. I read these about 5 years ago and enjoyed them. It’s about a town where one day everyone over the age of 18 disappears. The kids have to learn to survive, it can be quite brutal at times.

    6. Angelfall/Penryn and the End of Days by Susan Ee. Some romance but not smutty as far as I can remember but I could be wrong

Calizona by Ralph Rotten, and it’s sequels. Redneck preppers win the lottery, then an asteroid hits the earth. It’s funny too!

    8. The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin. It has survival, political conflict, sci-fi, non-traditional romance, and tragedy. It’s very ahead of it’s time and beautifully written.
