Two ideas for this, both fiction with a basis in real events:
“The Mercies” by Kiran Millgrave Harwood, about a community of women in very far northern Norway who have to survive on their own when a tragedy kills the men in the town and then are suspected of being witches.
“Haven” by Emma Donoghue, which imagines what might have led a small group of Irish monks to inhabit Skellig Michael, a very forbidding little island in the Atlantic Ocean.
