I think I’ve heard that this is a common trope in thriller murder mystery stories. I’ve read books like Everyone Here Is Lying by Shari Lapena or The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose. I enjoyed Everyone Here Is Lying far more than I enjoyed The Perfect Marriage. I also enjoyed Simply Lies by David Baldacci, although it didn’t really involve infidelity. I tried reading Gone Girl, but the main characters made me DNF it. I want to revisit it, though.
I enjoy the trope of “[Person A] is married to [Person B], but [Person A] is cheating and either their affair partner or [Person A/B] gets killed.” I also just generally am enthralled with infidelity in books. I think it’s because I’ve been cheated on, so it feels more impactful and intense than the usual “Person gets murdered, oh no” mystery.
I’m ok with it having romantic sub-plots or any smut (which is why this post is marked as NSFW, as I’d rather be safe than sorry). I’ll also take general thriller suggestions because I’ve found out recently that this is a favorite genre of mine! So infidelity-related thrillers preferred, but I’ll also take general thriller suggestions. Thank you!
