I’m doing a trip through Tennessee, Mississippi and Louisiana this summer (Nashville to New Orleans with quite a few stops on the way!) and would love some books that give a bit more of the history of the areas – any era: civil war, post WW2, slavery etc.
I’ve read a few books that are set more in the deep American south – Secret Life of Bees, Demon Copperhead, Colson Whitehead book etc.
I’m not good at non-fiction, so looking for something that’s fiction but set in true history or settings.
