So, I was introduced to Russian literature when I read Crime and Punishment at university. I loved it, BUT it wasn’t until I read War and Peace a few years later that I was HOOKED.
That book drew me in and then blew me away. Russian realism is just something else. I will never forget some moments: (without spoiling it) Andrei staring at that “infinite blue sky”, for one. After that I read Anna Karenina, Resurrection and Doctor Zhivago in quick succession.
Loved loved loved all those.
Any way, what were your first forays into Russian lit that got you really excited for it?
