Ill explain what I mean, to be more specific. Before Your Eyes is not a book, but rather a story-telling method from a narrative-driven immersive experience (game) sharing its title. When you blink, your webcam sends a signal to ‘move forward in time’, and the story continues on to a point later in time. It follows the main character’s life from beginning to end, and hits on many emotional points as you’d expect from something so broad yet so close and intimately human.

After playing it I was reminded of similar kinds of storytelling in literature. journal-entry type affairs that entail short entries spread over a long time. or those long running stories and series that cover generations of a family lineage. maybe there are other narrative methods and devices mirroring it even more closely that im unaware of.

I’m just asking for suggestions if anyone played it, has a novel with a similar vibe, or read the genre description and has some suggestions around those kinds of experiences in literature, id love to hear it.

tldr: Novels like “Before Your Eyes” an interactive story told through short bits / incomplete information over a long period (journal entry fiction or generational epics)
