I just loved the shows “Between” and “The Society” on Netflix and was really sad that both got cancelled. I can admit that both of these shows are not high quality content but somehow I was fascinated by them. I’m not sure these shows would work if they were set in an European city but I just loved the drama that comes with an isolated city only inhabited by teenagers with sudden access to their parents’ guns. I liked watching the chaos and panic setting in, followed by power plays and attempts to set up a somehow functioning society again.

Since I want to get back into reading and am working on a TBR list, I figured that since there are no more shows for me with this premise, maybe there are books with the same plot premise that I would enjoy.

If you have a great suggestion about a related setting, e.g. adults included, that might also be fine. I just thought it was even more fun to watch teenagers without a plan being suddenly entrapped in a city. I watched other shows where adults were somehow left to their own devices in other scenarios (Lost, The Leftovers, Under The Dome, Tribes of Europa…) and I just didn’t enjoy them as much and always stopped watching them at some point.

    1. Well, since you put that modifier at the bottom, and nobody else has commented, yet I have a proclivity towards junkie books which tend to fit the description you provided so in that vein, I would highly recommend junkie love, and lamentation by Joe Clifford, sick city, and down and out on murder mile by Tony O’Neill, wasting talent by Ryan Leone, The book Requiem for a dream, and I guess these last aren’t necessarily junkie books but laws of attraction, Glamorama, and the shards all by Brett Easton Ellis so those might be a bit better suited I probably should’ve led with those
