Book about someone (preferably a man) learning to accept his true nature which doesn’t match what he’s been taught to be by society or family?

Have gone through some identity crises lately and would appreciate a book that deals with a male learning to accept themselves the way they are which may not be what they have been told is the ‘right’ way to be.
I am a big fan of murakami and dostoyevski.
