Per the title, I’m interested in modern-ish (Victorian onwards) occultism, magic etc in the UK, but from a relatively robust historical point of view. It isn’t a problem if the author is sympathetic to the subject, but it needs at least some skepticism. It should also not just assume that everyone involved is a nut job or charlatan. I’m concerned that biographies of Crowley in particular will be either hagiographic or scandal driven, reviews on Amazon are similarly hard to trust!
