I’ve heard so much praise for this specific book, so many have called it their favourite so I decided to give it a read and for some reason I just cannot make it past half of the book. I usually love reading plots which focus on mental illness but it feels too slow. I hate keep my books half unread so I’m gonna push past this and try to read the entire book.

    1. I had the exact same feeling- I love books that revolve around mental health issues, being a mentally ill man myself. My expectations for this book were so high, and I, too, was disappointed. It didn’t speak to me the way other books that focus on mental health did (Infinite Jest, A Little Life, A Man Called Ove, etc.). i DON’T THINK IT HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT BEING SLOW SINCE GENERALLY i DO ENJOY SLOWER PACED BOOKS, but it felt kind of mellow and… dead? Sort of, not emotional at all? I did finish it.
I’m going to try and read more Plath, and see how I like the rest of her work. Maybe it’s her writing style, I dunno.
