I don’t know how many ppl here must have watched the kdrama Mother (2018) but I’m looking for a book w a similar story. For those of you who haven’t ever watched it (I would highly recommend) it’s about a sub teacher finding out one of her students is being abused at home and um. kidnapping her. The story follows these two and how they develop a mother-daughter bond and its one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever watched.
I want a book rec where an adult somehow ends up acquiring a child and becoming a parent to them something like The House in the Cerulean Sea but also something where the main focus is on this guardian-child relationship.

How about [The Wishing Game](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/824eccc1-ea3a-47c8-8a68-e037cd0d2ae1) by Meg Shaffer? I wouldn’t say that the parent-child relationship is the *main* focus of the book exactly, but it’s definitely the main motivation for the protagonist.
I don’t know a book like that but one of my favorite movies is like that, the Japanese movie shoplifters 🙂
There’s “push” which was made into the movie precious and focuses on a student teacher relationship. But it’s a very upsetting book. Lots of triggers and abuse
You might also like the book and movie called White Oleanders which focuses on a girl and her psychopath mother and her foster mother’s and how she raises herself.
