Hi guys, I am new to this subreddit.
I like the idea of reading and like books in general.
Thing is I didn’t buy this book so it’s not my type of book, I got it from my friend’s house. It’s a self improvement book called “stress for success”. Currently in the middle of finishing it. But imo I find these kind of books boring for some reason and often find myself forced to read for the sake of finishing the book although they can be beneficial and have good examples sometimes. I want to try a book that has story which gets me interested.

Don’t read books you find boring (unless you have to for a job or a class, or out of love for your spouse, or something like that).
If someone gives you or lends you a book, that doesn’t mean you have to read it. This is quite important, because a book is not like other gifts; if someone gives you a teapot or a candy bar or whatever, it’s not a responsibility. A book, like a pet, is a responsibility; and as such, just as you can reject an unasked-for pet given as a gift, you can choose not to read a book. I don’t read most of the books people give me, and people give me a lot of books because they know I’m a writer! I keep the ones I think I might eventually read, and I donate the rest.
Self help books can generally give you what they want to say in like 20 pages, but stretch them out to be 300 pages. Self help genre is such a garbage genre imo. Very boring.
Drop it if you find it boring, go find something that interested you. You will be far more likely to continue reading if you are enjoying what you’re reading.
