I’ve told myself all my life that I would never, ever be the type of person that would write or highlight in my books. That I would keep all my books prestige.
I recently found out about commonplace books that people make in order to learn stuff better when reading. Alot of them start by reading a book, mostly non-fiction, and annotate their book while reading to later revisit said book and write the most important parts in their commonplace book. A concept that I found very interesting.
I just started a book on dinosaurs and thought, what the hell, it’s my book and no one else will use it anyway. So I started highlighting the book and writing notes in the margins. It felt pretty weird at first and almost sacrilegious but after a few pages I felt like I was mindfully reading the book. Actually absorbing the information.
Do you annotate your book?
