Hello beautiful bookworms, I am requesting tips on how to read faster because I have a goal this year to read 30 books..

The goal is about reading mostly novels of the only three genres I’m focusing on (scfi, horror and fantasy) as well as at least 1 comic book each month. I try to have at least 200/300 pages minimum as I don’t want to just read 30 Books but actually enjoy the stories I read.

So far I have finished 2 books which leaves me to read a minimum of 2 books per month which imo is completely doable but I just don’t have the time to read so much due to work. I often try to read on my commute and I don’t always find free audiobooks to listen to during my workouts/free time

Any advice is welcome and sorry if this post is a bit long. I just wanted to give context to my habits :).

Try to have uninterrupted time with your phone off. Read instead of watching television. Read in the morning at the weekend. Be honest about how much time you are reading: half a book a month is not reading very much.

I’m a person who commute. So I read during commute. Once in a while it opens up conversations also.

Also I read during my lunch break at office.

Usually that’s the only times I get to read without distractions as I got a young kid.

Do you have a library card? You would be able to access to a lot of audiobooks.

    4. Read before bed, always carry a book with you to read while waiting for things, read whenever you can! Investing in a kindle might be helpful/using the kindle app so you can read while working out without having to flip pages. Deleting socials helped me realize how much time I had to look at other things, so potentially giving up bad habits or certain time wasters helps!

    5. My most helpful tip is to try and find 5 minute slots for reading. Waiting for a train? Read a few pages. Arrived early to the office? Read a few pages. Waiting for dinner to be ready? Read a few pages.

In terms of audiobooks, the same can be true when you’re hanging out washing, making dinner, or other jobs around the house.

It all adds up very quickly. If your first instinct when you pick up your phone is to open the Kindle App (or equivalent) you’ll soon be reading way more.

You learn to read fast naturally as you read. The best way to improve is by doing.
