To those more familiar/engaged in science, particularly in biochemistry and epidemiology, what books would you recommend for those that want to learn/be introduced to the subject in a gentle way?
For context, I have an econometrics background but starting to do research in public health and my current interests are in improving children and adolescent health. I haven’t taken a science class since high school so I am very rusty and would like to re-educate myself without the need to seek out a textbook.
I would love to read some books about mechanisms within the body and how they can/are affected. Books covering diabetes and brain health would be a great bonus if possible. Thank you!
