Meet my Pet, peeve.
Sure I’m not the only one, but,
What are you guys opinion about describing clothes of charactar that are mostly irrelevant? And even so, what is the point of using fancy words and flourishing therm to describe a ‘commom’ outfit a character may be using it only once? Because culturally, most of us “imagine” a character using clothes uncousciously.
Don’t get me wrong, if there’s a ball happening or an important meeting or a new magic suit that has colorful powers, sure, describing the outfit or the general aspect of the characters feeling toward it, its fine. Also, I’m not talking about specific cases, like for example a detective describing a suspects clothes to justify a reason or behave, or else; doing that is reasonable.
But I find it rather pointless describing the clothes of a man that just appeared, and few pages later never be mentioned again (nor the man, nor the clothes). Plus normally, people change their day-to-day outfits.
