I see this book get a serious amount of praise. It was Cixin Liu’s reputation after seeing his books in a German bookstore 2 years ago that piqued my interest. Added to the TBR pile and here we are
I’ve read Ball lightning and now 3 body problem (apparently theres a Netflix show but I haven’t seen it) ball lightning was a fun mystery, characters seemed bland but thw concept was fun.
Then 3 body problem, which kinda felt like a mess? Not a bad mess but just out of order. (I suppose the 3 sons did not align for me)
The cultural revolution and then the mystery of the 3 body problem game was great and the ending reveal of why they made the game. Trisolaris as a concept is just mind-blowing. But it all feels misplaced? Or miss used. In between these amazing story beats are boring characters who’s motivations are ‘i like science’
The cop and the Ye, the rest? I Know nothing about them or don’t want to know anything about them. I’ll Lilley keep reading the series out of hope I change my opinion, but am I crazy?
Tldr
I feel alone in this opinion both the out of order structure and the bland characters.
