I posted here before, and got some good suggestions, but hopping to find that ‘just right’ title.
I’m hoping to find a slice of life book set in modern times, say within the past 20 years, and in North America. Fiction or non-fiction, I don’t care. Not a retiree remembering their past, I want something modern. My trouble is, anything I’ve run across like that is always listed as something else. ‘Perks of being a wall-flower’ is a coming of age, while ‘No. 1 ladies’ detective agency’ is under ‘mystery’ (and takes place in Botswana)
Some titles I’ve enjoyed (that don’t fit one aspect or another)
All creatures great and small (British, historic)
Cannery Row (historic)
How to raise an elephant (Botswanan)
Convenience store woman (Japanese)
Travels with Charlie (Historic)
I finished ‘Tales of the city’ and would honestly love something similar that’s in a more recent time-frame; there is no escaping that the story is so 1970’s.
