Suggest my 12 year old a biography or memoir that will inspire him.
My son is 12 and loves his video games. I love that he has something that he loves. Any gamer-readers have any on-topic suggestions? I’m open to off-topic suggestions as well. Thanks!
When I was 11 I really loved It this is a man- The truce by Primo Levi about his time in Auschwitz

The “I Survived” book series might be good! All about people who survived crazy historical events, natural disasters, etc.
The “Horrible Histories” books are good too, but a little more advanced.

I bought this book for my nephew a couple of years ago —
*Seaman’s Journey With Lewis and Clark* by Linda Couchman: “peer-reviewed for content and cultural accuracy, is recommended for home school use and summer bridge work.”
Less expensive, but more fictional is —
*Seaman: The Dog Who Explored The West With Lewis & Clark* by Gail Langer Karwoski (Author) and James Watling (Illustrator). I have not seen this book personally, but it seems popular at Amazon.

It’s not in the gamer genre but former NFL qauterback Drew Brees’ memoir “Coming Back Stronger: Unleashing The Hidden Power Of Adversity” is a great read and covers his career as a player and what eventually ended up bringing him to New Orleans and The Saints.

Check out Boss Fight Books. They publish in depth how-it’s-mades, game histories, and autobiographies. I loved the one on Spelunky by Derek Yu. I’m sure you can find a few of your kid’s favorite games.

“The Dragon Hunter” is a biography of Roy Chapman Andrews, who might be the closest thing that ever existed to a real life Indiana Jones.
