I’d love some recommendations for your favorite alt history novels that feature worlds that diverged from ours after some critical event turned out differently between 1910 and 2000. The novels can take place in any year, even 2024, but the branching off from our history should have begun in the 1900s.

Oh, and I would be especially appreciative if the event that differs from historical fact is **not a war**. Other things seem like they might be more interesting to explore, like say what if the Titanic didn’t sink, or we avoided the great depression, or the civil rights movement wasn’t successful *or* was successful decades earlier, or the polio vaccine didn’t get invented, or what if the internet didn’t catch on etc.

Or maybe it’s something less serious and far smaller, like most humans becoming allergic to tomatoes back in the mid-1900s like in those Kim Harrison books 😄 These sorts seem like they might be potentially really imaginative, actually.

Scifi and/or fantasy elements are welcomed but not required. YA is okay too.

    Thanks!

    1. The work in the period that’s been recommended to me the most is Fear, Loathing, and Gumbo on the Campaign Trail ‘72, which is about Nixon not winning.
