I’ve been feeling pretty isolated and overall haven’t been having a great time with where I am in life. I read 1984 yesterday and, while a great book, was kinda the antithesis of what I feel like I want to read right now. Looking for anything that’ll take me into another world, preferably somewhat lighthearted, but as long as it’s engaging and not 1984-esque doom and gloom I think I’d appreciate it. I’ve read a lot of the major fantasy and sci fi series (LOTR, Dune, Hyperion, GOT) but know very little outside of that. I’d be thankful for anything you have to offer!

I know it’s super popular and therefore tends to get a bad wrap but ACOTAR truly is incredibly immersive and for a fantasy romance, relatively light-hearted.
If you’re open to very long books, I recommend [The Hands of the Emperor](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/af2bba9c-8f41-4a3e-b87a-8532a44ccb67) by Victoria Goddard! It’s a beautifully written slice of life book about the personal secretary to the emperor of the world, with a heavy focus on platonic relationships.
