I have a big mindless task to do this week and it will go so much faster if I can disappear into another world. I’m open to any genre.

I can’t do realistic sad/traumatic this week. “Oh, no! I’m trapped in Mars and I don’t know how I’ll ever get home!?” is fine (I just finished a The Martian reread) but “I’m trying to break generational trauma.” would be too much despite often loving “hard” books.

I prefer my romance m/w and closed door. Full cast audiobooks and/or book series would be awesome!

Look at Graphic Audio’s version of the Innkeeper Chronicles by Ilona Andrews. It’s about a woman who runs a secret inn for aliens.

The Wizard’s Butler by Nathan Lowell

I recently finished this while on a slice-of-life kick and thoroughly enjoyed it. There is a plot, but it is much more focused on world creation and details. Very easy to listen to while doing something else and has a decent narrator.

Ben Aaronovitch’s Rivers of London series is terrific on audio. The narrator, Kobna Holbrook-Smith, is truly one of the best to ever do it.
