We (my university) are talking about empires. Modern and ancient civilizations and empires, the rise of them and their fall, in addition to all the positives and negatives of their time of reign. Corruption, bloodshed, wars, propaganda, etc.
We need to write an essay on modern-day America. If it were to fall, how would we go about falling? If someone were to want to make it fall, how would they go about doing it?
Now, this can be any type of book, as long as it’s helpful and useful. And it doesn’t have to be USA only, so when I tell you if you have any books that could go in depth on this, please let me know! Try to make it revolve around America, but you don’t have to.
Any books on how to destroy and defeat empires, corruption, propaganda, and civilization? You see what I’m trying to tell you. Imagine you yourself are in a powerful, corrupt super empire, and you are part of a resistance, or you want to be, and you want to figure out how to free everyone and remove the empire’s evil. Completely go against them. What books?

My comment was deleted because I linked to a subreddit that has “Ask” and “Historians” in its name. You might search for “empire” there. They require sources to be cited, and sometimes they discuss which books are most accessible for reading.
I’m certain your prof would prefer that you do the imagining of how it would work in America.
“Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed” by Jared Diamond is great. It examines a bunch of historic societies that failed (eg Easter Island, Greenland Norse, Mayans, etc), and why. It comes up with a bunch of categories of reasons why societies fail. And it examines a few instances where societies were on the path to failure but managed to change course (eg Japan almost completely deforested a few centuries ago, now it’s very highly forested). It includes looking at a couple of modern societies, like Montana and Australia. I think you’d find a lot of good info in there.
