I’m trying to get into reading more books by noreic authors since I’m living here anyway, but for the life of me I just can’t lol. I tried reading some of their famous books (i.e., Økseskibet / The Axe Ship by Jens Henrik Jensen) but they just bore me rather than excite me. I find them too long winded.
Has anyone had any luck with nordic crime / thriller / horror books? Should I try Jo Nesbø? Jussi Adler-Olsen? Someone else entirely?

I wasn’t big on Nesbo, but I’ve enjoyed every Henning Mankell I’ve ever read. May I suggest Faceless Killers to start?
Or for a little more fast-paced you may enjoy The Darkness by Ragnar Jonasson
Helen Tursten’s Inspector Huss books are enjoyable.
Would Jussi Adler-olsen be considered Nordic?
I enjoy this series .. The Department Q series

It’s been a while, but I enjoyed Harbor and Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist, though the former is more “horror” than the latter imo.
Arnaldur Indridason (Iceland) is worth trying.
