I’m doing research on failed parental relationships, and the formation of new ones. I’m specifically looking for books with a situation of a student seeing a parent in their teacher (male or female, not gonna be picky because I doubt I’ll have lots of options), but if there’s any books with just any adult in general taking on a parental position, that’d be useful too. Thanks!

In the war that saved my life by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley the disabled girl protagonist was abused by her mother for ten years until she is taken in by a lady in the countryside during ww2. The lady didn’t want any kids but she and her brother were the only kids left due to being dirty and she disabled so the policeman just dumps them at her house. The lady becomes a mother figure and eventually adopts them. The girl is very independent and takes care of her brother but she really breaks down when people show her affection like giving her gifts and such because she’s not used to it
