like, I started reading books last month without really the intention of getting all those things people say of having a better vocabulary and stuff when you read, but mostly the books i read are fantasy books and some other silly ones, does it impacts the same? will it provide me a better vocabulary over time?

That depends entirely on which fantasy books you read. After all, Homer’s *Odyssey* and Kafka’s *Metamorphosis* are fantasy books.
Even though it’s quite readable, *The Lord of the Rings* will likely expand your vocabulary. Just look at this glossary for it from the Cliff Notes website:

Vocabulary depends on author, not genre.
If you’re looking for learning vocabulary from fantasy books, I’d try Gene Wolfe. Or if you really hate yourself and want to go looking for words that aren’t even in normal dictionaries, Stephen R Donaldson.
