Reading American psycho. Just started. Will admit I’m skipping certain pages that are just walls of text and descriptions. I think it’s ok if u understand their importance and what they bring into the story (they are there to show how materialistic and robotic and shallow Patrick and his peers. Same way we don’t get a physical description-or at least one that is actually specific to describe how someone looks- just what someone is wearing and the designer brand names) but anyway is this ok, or am I ruining the book?

The author wrote the words with the intention of them being read.

I suggest you watch the movie if you don’t want to read the book.
I admit that this is one of the few books I couldn’t finish. The ending is so over the top gore that I felt sick to my stomach.
I love the movie and I’ve actually seen the musical, but reading it put me off.
If you’re going to skip the novel just watch the movie. They’re both good.
You are missing the point. This i how a sociopath sees things the rest of us make a connection to. The guy knows Hewey Lewis is good, but does not know why so he spews out the corporate copy.
