I want a novel series of a dystopian world that involves terrifying psychological elements. Something that evokes loneliness, mental torture, and maybe alien like presences. Something similar to junji ito stories. Again, preferable a series as opposed to a stand alone book.

Here are some:
* The Luminous Dead by Caitlin Starling. It’s not part of a series, but there is a companion short story called Caver, Continue.
* The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell and its sequel Children of God.
* Nightflyers and Other Stories by George R. R. Martin. A collection of short stories, not a series.
* Revelation Space by Alastair Reynolds. It is first in a series, but I have read book 2 and did not find it scary at all. The first book does have a great atmosphere of unease and isolation, though!
