Hello, I’m currently taking an undergrad topic class that’s all about vampire lore origins. It’s a great class and I’m loving the historial context to one of the most long-lasting horror tropes of today.
I’d love to know your favorite vampire books, short stories or vampire authors. I’d like to see just how popular this genre is and to collect some reading material for when this class is over.
Thanks in advance, everyone!

My favorite vampire book is Salems Lot by Stephen King.
Dracula by Bram Stoker has aged really well too. It’s great.
Interview With the Vampire by Anne Rice is also fun.
Lastly, there’s a great short story about a vampire by Nathan Ballingrud called Sunbleached.
I second Dracula, also Carmilla by Le Fanu, and a short story I really enjoyed is House of Aunts by Zen Cho
Dracula and Carmilla are classics; a modern take on Dracula is A Dowry of Blood. Obviously Twilight is the most famous modern vampire adaptation
