Everything I’ve read lately has been so serious. It seems like most good literature is serious, and most light, fun books are poorly written. How about books that are really well written but are also funny? I want petty characters with petty goals revolving around jealousy, lust, lies, and pride! I want a slowly unfolding social disaster! Some books that have some of this are White Noise, High Fidelity, American Psycho, Freedom, Crossroads, the Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test. Stuff like David Foster Wallace used to write. I want books that feel like the TV show White Lotus. A guilty pleasure that was written by a smart person.
Anything spring to mind?

I just posted this two minutes ago but *Antkind* – Kaufman is a petty tour de force.
